In Memoriam Thais Kaloubek: We lost one of our own

We regret to announce that the Master's Programme Land Management and Land Tenure has lost one of its participants, Thais Kaloubek.She was a lawyer by profession and graduated from the popular Faculdades Metropolitanas Unidas, in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Thaís passed away on the 4th of October, 2009, after being in coma for almost 40 days as a result of lymphoma.

Thais, who was in our 2007-2009 group of participants, had to go back to Brazil after one semester because of her illness. She has been on a leave of absence from study since then, but she always showed her willingness to come back to Germany, to conclude her studies.

We are deeply moved by this news. We always hoped for her to recover and come back to us. She was such an extraordinary person that everybody missed her greatly when she had to go to back home.

Our condolences and sympathy go to her bereaved husband, family and friends.

We will certainly always remember her.
