Upon this background, Prof. Dr. Belen Benito Oterino and Dr. Jorge M. Gasper paid a return visit as a way to consolidate the partnership and delivered lectures on Environmental Risk Management with emphasis on the application of GIS. It was all arranged under the auspices of the Erasmus Teaching Mobility Program and the Erasmus Partnership in the study course Geodesy and Geoinformation.
During the visit, a meeting was convened between the visiting lecturers and Prof. Dr. Wunderlich from the Chair of Geodesy, Prof. Dr. Thuro from the Chair of Engineering Geology, Dr. Krisp from the Chair of Cartography, and Mr. Ertac MSc, from the Chair of Geoinformation Systems. This was meant to give them an overview of the scientific focus in an interdisciplinary context.

Indeed the University of Polytechnic Madrid is starting a new Master’s Programme in Sustainable Managemenet, which focuses on training specialists in planning and evaluation of rural-local development projects, and sustainable management of the territories and biodiversity. The visit marked a firm beginning of partnership between the two institutions as the move to maintain and promote academic excellence.
