Dipl.-Ing. Jorge Espinoza (MSc) and Dipl.-Geogr. Anne Ritzinger gave guest lectures on Land Management at the Faculty of Topography of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain

For some time there have been promising contacts with the Universidad Politecnica in Madrid (UPM), whose representatives visited the Chair of Land management in spring of 2008, in order to check the possibilities of teaching and student exchanges.

Due to the good contacts with Prof. Magel within the FIG (Federation Internationale des Géomètres) Prof. Pedro Joaquin Cavero Abad (left) and Prof. Dr. Jose María Fábrega Golpe (right) visited as representatives of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM) the Chair of Land management (Centre of Land and Environmental Risk Management) in February 2008 in order to discuss future cooperation possibilities.

In December 2008 members of our chair visited the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM). Dipl.-Ing. MSc.

Prof. Dr. Rufino Pérez Gómez, Sub-director de Relaciones Internacionales, coordinated their residence, whose target was to anchor the topic of land management strengthened at the UPM through lectures and furthermore to become acquainted with the several units of the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros en Topografía, Geodesía y Cartografia at the UPM and to explore further possibilities of the cooperation.

Thereafter, a joint meeting took place with professors of the E.T.S.I. en Topografía, Geodesía y Cartografia e.g. with Dr. Rosa Mariana Chueca Castedo, the Director, and Prof. Antonio Arozarena Villar, president of the EuroSDR (European Spatial Data Research).

Between UPM Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros en Topografía, Geodesia y Cartografia and the TUM agreements for the mobility of lecturers and students were concluded within the frame of the EU ERASMUS programme. The first TUM geodesy student starts her exchanging semester in spring 2009.

As next steps of cooperation courses of lecturers of the UPM at TUM in the summer semester 2009, as well as the collaboration in future research projects e.g. in Latin America, are planned.
