A Study Visit from China's elite university at our Chair
Professor Jianping YE from the Department of Land & Real Estate Management of the elite University Renmin in Beijing has made a study visit to our Chair of Land Management. He is accompanied by Ms. Yuzhu BI, a PhD student at the Department and an assistant of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation in Shandong.
Supported by the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation Prof. YE remains in Bavaria and especially at our Chair and at the agencies of Rural Development, in order to study how Bavaria managed it to convert from an agricultural land to a successful industrial and services oriented area, while maintaining conservation of the natural beauty and polarisation of rural areas.
While this change is ongoing in China, it urgently needs our scientific support. Prof. YE belongs to the most renowned scientists in China and has close contacts with influential ministries, including the Ministry for Land and Resources, the partner of the Hanns-Seidel-Foundation and the Bavarian State Government in the field of rural development. In the frame of his stay Prof. YE is also interested in the aspects of land valuation and real estate economics, in his position as Vice-President of the China Institute of Real Estate Appraisers and Agents (CIREA) with thousands of members.
His visit is mainly aimed at intensifying the cooperation between his Department and the Chair of Land Management. A first key step is to design and to implement a China-wide conference on development of rural areas in May 2009 in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Together with the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Ministry of Land and Resources, Bavarian and Chinese scientists and practitioners will design perspectives for strengthening the sustainable development of rural areas in China and address the situation complicated by the current global economic crisis.
