In the context of an ongoing collaboration project with the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), TUM's Chair of Land Management was host of a delegation of academics from the Philippines. The group of guests was composed by colleagues of the Visayas State University and the University of the Philippines Diliman in Manila and a representative of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources of the Philippine Government.
TUM and ITC joined forces for supporting these institutions in the development of modules for their academic programmes on Land Administration and Management.
The purpose of the 4-weeks Immersion Visit (2 weeks at ITC and 2 weeks at TUM) was thus to work on the development of the specific academic modules which are to be implemented in the mentioned universities in the near future.
The primary objective of the immersion visit at TUM was to continue the discussions started at ITC, to agree on the structure of VSU’s academic programme and to further develop as far as possible the curriculum in terms of its consistency, efficiency and effectiveness. In order to do this, considerable work was devoted to defining and structuring the objectives of the different curses as well as their target groups, requirements and the specific contents.
Further activities were organized in order to deepen the understanding by the participants of TUM’s approach to Land Management and Administration which included attendance to a one-day lecture on Land Policy and Land Governance by Mr. Willi Zimmermann at TUM’s Master’s Programme Land Management and Land Tenure and a visit to the Cadastral Office in Munich.
