First TUM Doctoral degree for a TUM Master of Land Management and Land Tenure

Fahria Masum, graduate of our Master's Programme in 2006 and since then Scientific Programme Assistant at our Chair of Land Management, completed recently her dissertation. Therewith she is the first TUM Master of Land Management and Land Tenure, who additionally graduated with a doctoral degree at TUM. Extra notably is the fact, that she received the famous Dr.-Ing.-Title from TUM with the top grade "summa cum laude"!

Being examined by Prof. Holger Magel, Prof. Sophie Wolfrum from the TUM Chair for Urban Design and Regional Planning and Prof. Gerlind Weber, University of Natural Resources and Applied Life Sciences, Vienna, Fahria Masum wrote her doctoral work about "Actors and processes behind urban fringe development: Mechanism to guide urban land management. Study on Dhaka, Bangladesh".

In her first doctoral speech an emotional Dr.-Ing. Fahria Masum thanked in the following celebration the Professors for all the scientific support as well as her colleagues who gave her the suitable social environment to work concentrated and efficiently on it.
Visibly proud of having such a competent young scientist in his team Prof. Magel congratulated her on this outstanding success. Looking forward to the following years, in which Masum will continue her work for the Chair, Prof. Magel emphasized this next step of success for the international Master’s Programme Land Management and Land Tenure.
