Joint E-Learning Module ITC/TUM on Land Information Infrastructures

The Faculty ITC of University Twente in the Netherlands and the Center of Land, Water and Environmental Risk Management decided to take a remarkable step forward in the implementation of a Global Academic Partnership and collaborated in the development and delivery of an e-learning module on Land Information Infrastructures within the frame of their respective MSc programmes in land administration (ITC) and land management and land tenure (TUM).
The module took place for the first time in April/May 2010. Participants from ITC and TUM, thus at two different locations (Enschede, Netherlands and Munich, Germany) followed the programme. A total of 39 participants from 20 countries (23 in the Netherlands and 13 in Germany) participated in the course.
The workload of the module included different teaching methods such as online, video and audio lectures, video conferencing sessions for exchanging feedbacks as well as questions and answers, and collaborative homeworks and discussion boards. Furthermore, during the third week of the module, the students from ITC travelled to Germany with the purpose of visiting a number of land management related institutions, namely the Rural Development Authority of Lower Franconia (Land Consolidation and Village Renewal projects in Geldersheim and Obbach), Remote Sensing Data Centre of the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), Munich’s Cadastral Office, Rural Development Authority of Upper Bavaria and the State Office for Geodesy and Geoinformation (LVG).
